The trails are groomed to Walker plains past Four Trees and to Chuck’s rock past Mill Creek. The snow is substantial in the outer areas. The groomers plan to
run again today. lj

The groomers went out today and groomed upper and lower Daniels and the Highlands. They reported that the snow was good, cold and powdery. lj

We finally got almost all the way down Big Creek today. I got about 3/4 mile above the parking lot. I turned back where the snow cover got too thin to groom, but it looked just fine for riding. And, with luck, that could improve over the next couple of days.
PARKING
No vehicles are currently parked at the Big Creek lot, so it presents a good alternative. The summit lot has about 40 empty spaces late this afternoon, and those should fill pretty quickly over the next couple of days.

The groomer went to one mile past Four Trees and cleaned up the ruts.Vehicles are still driving to Walker Plains. Still alot of trees down, will try and get to them by New Years. Anyone wanting to help contact Jay.A Also all groomers and want to be groomers need to sign the papers for the USFS. I will bring them to the meeting on 1/2/10 at the lodge at 10 oclock. I rode Big Creek this afternoon, and while there is not enough snow to groom, it is fine until about 3/4 of a mile above the parking area. In that lowest section there is barely enough snow to ride on. Stay to the left coming up to avoid the 4X4 ruts. (when will they learn?) With our current temperatures, we should not be losing much cover, and if we get lucky next week, we’ll have more snow to cover, and that will be a good alternative when the upper lot fills.

Two inches of snow last night. Light and fluffy, and any bit helps right now. Jay rode Grizzly Forebay a couple of days ago and said it was surprisingly good. He had to go over very short dirt spots in a couple of places, but nothing bad.

Started grooming yesterday. Did all the basin, not enough snow to go all the way down Big Creek yet.

The groomer made its first journey out today! The snow is minimal but more is on the way.
The USFS issued an order that all roads that are groomed will be closed 12/15/09 to 3/31/10 to 4 wheel traffic. The fines are considerable–$5000.
